Tire and wheel calculations
- Dimensions are calculated from the nominal size. Real tires differ between brands and models, and change with load, pressure and wear.
- A size that is mathematically close may still be unsuitable: load index, speed rating, wheel width, offset, brake clearance, bodywork clearance and local approval rules all matter.
- Changing tire or wheel size can affect the speedometer, odometer, ABS, stability control, handling and insurance, and may need approval in some countries.
Vehicle data
- Tire and wheel sizes come from Swiss type-approval records. They show what was approved in Switzerland and may differ from vehicles sold in other markets. Records are processed automatically; despite cross-checks, errors are possible.
- US fuel economy figures are EPA ratings. Your real consumption will vary with driving style, speed, weather, load, tires and maintenance.
- UK fuel economy figures come from the Vehicle Certification Agency lists. They are supplied by manufacturers, come from two different test procedures (NEDC before September 2017, WLTP after) that must not be compared, and may not be achieved in real-world driving.
Fuel cost calculations
Fuel cost results depend entirely on the figures you enter. Prices change often; use current local prices.
